Internships at the NFI
Would you like to do an internship at the NFI? We offer internships to students from universities, universities of applied sciences (HBO), and secondary vocational education (MBO). Gain practical experience in an educational environment and contribute to our forensic science. Read more about the available internships:
Internships in the field of human biological traces (e.g., DNA analysis, forensic biology) are available for students studying (medical) biology or bioinformatics.

Internships in the field of non-human biological traces (such as plants, animals, soil, fungi, bacteria, and entomological traces) are available for students studying biology, organic chemistry, or bioinformatics.

The NFI is part of the Dutch government and offers a challenging and socially relevant working environment. You will work with experts on projects that contribute to the justice system and public safety.
In addition to your salary, you will receive an Individual Choice Budget (ICB) of 16.5% of your gross annual salary. This allows you to customize your employment terms, such as extra leave or tax-friendly options.

You apply via the vacancy (CV and motivation letter). Our recruiter reviews your application, and if there is a match, one or more interviews will follow. In some cases, you may be asked to complete an assessment or a practical assignment. If both you and we are positive, you will receive an offer. After acceptance, this is followed by a discussion of employment conditions and a final offer.
