Welcome to the renewed NFI website!

News article

31 March 2026

Do you notice anything? If you visit frequently, you will probably notice that the website of the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) has been updated! Over the past few months, a small group of NFI employees has worked hard to create a platform that not only looks more modern but also better reflects who we are and what we do.

The NFI is not only an (inter)national institute for complex and multidisciplinary forensic science; we are also the organisation for innovation and knowledge sharing in this area. This calls for a website that reflects this. A place where knowledge documents, as well as courses and background information on our forensic areas, are quickly and easily accessible. A website where both Dutch citizens and subject-matter experts can turn for information and questions, and where international partners and interested parties are also served in English.

Together with the Dienst ICT Uitvoering (DICTU), the Dutch ICT Implementation Service, we have created a fresh and modern design. We have improved search functions and paid particular attention to accessibility – because a government website must be easy to use for everyone. We therefore hope that our new website will be perceived as user-friendly.

Knowledge base

The biggest new feature is the addition of the Knowledge base: use keywords and filters to find knowledge documents such as subject appendices, information sheets, and infographics. From now on, these knowledge documents are also linked to the specific areas of expertise of the NFI.

The construction of the website is not yet complete. If you have comments or questions about the website, for example regarding accessibility, we would like to hear them. Please contact us via the general contact form.
